Make ahead and store
The current draft allows making the dip 1 day ahead and keeping leftovers refrigerated for up to 3 days. It also advises discarding dip left at room temperature for more than 2 hours, or more than 1 hour above 90°F. Those limits require food-safety approval before publication.
Keep the dip chilled while serving and use a clean utensil.
Common questions
How can I adjust the pepper heat?
Begin with 1/4 cup of chopped slices, chill the dip, then taste. Add more only after the cream cheese, sour cream, peppers, and seasoning have had time to come together.
Can I make the dip ahead?
The current draft allows making it up to 1 day ahead. Cover and refrigerate it, then stir and garnish just before serving. This timing remains review-gated.
Why drain the slices first?
Draining helps the dip stay thick enough for scooping. Add a measured amount of jar liquid later only when you want a softer consistency.
