Cajun Butter Recipe with All-Purpose Cajun Seasoning

Cajun butter is softened butter mixed with Cajun seasoning and a little lemon. Use it immediately as a soft spread, or shape and chill it into a firm compound-butter log. Starting with unsalted butter makes the final salt level easier to control.

Common questions

Can I make Cajun butter with salted butter?

Yes, but begin with less seasoning because both ingredients may add salt. Taste it with the food you plan to serve before adding more.

Can I melt Cajun butter?

Yes. Warm it gently over low heat or let it melt on hot food. High heat can cause the butter solids and lemon juice to separate.

Is Cajun butter only for seafood?

No. It also works with corn, potatoes, rice, cooked vegetables, chicken, steak, and bread.
